Although this may be considered to be an introductory 35MHZ RC system, it could be ideal for those who require a basic none computer transmitter incorporating some simple switched mixing functions. The FT06-A is primarily intended for use with model aircraft, but also features basic helicopter functions. A row of easily accessible slider switches on the front of the transmitter provide servo reversing, dual rates, V-tail mixing, and “triangle wing” or Delta mixing for aileron and elevator. Helicopter functions provide mixing of channel 3 to 6, 1 to 3/6, channels 5/6 are gyro and pitch. No servos, switch harness or batteries are included.

The transmitter case is very nicely moulded in black plastic with ergonomic rear ribbed grip areas. Channel 5 is a standard 2 position flick switch, and channel 6 is a normal 270 degree rotary control. The front panel has a metallic type finish and sports a sturdy neck strap mounting lug, a large on/off slider switch, and centrally mounted power LED. Access to the crystal holder is also via the front panel. Only the crystal carries its frequency/channel number which helps preventing mistakes being made, the holder is simply marked 35MHZ. The stick ends are threaded to enable some adjustment of length to suit individual requirements.

Trim levers for throttle, rudder, elevator and aileron are very positive with a ratchet action. The transmitter is nicely balanced with the telescopic aerial extended and loaded with a set of 8 batteries. Either rechargeable or dry batteries may be clipped into the rear cell holders. A DC input socket is provided to enable recharging of suitable AA sized NiMH cells. Storage for 2 further spare crystals is provided within the rear battery compartment. When the batteries begin to reach a discharged state, the power LED flashes and a reasonably loud buzzer sounds at 1 second intervals.

This combination outfit is supplied with a very small 6 channel single conversion receiver. One pair of crystals is supplied with no option to select a frequency. The neat little receiver measures just 35mm x 21mm x 12mm deep and uses half size mini crystals. Servo connectors are standard spaced and suitable for Futaba style plugs which have the extra flange or other types without the flange. The receiver aerial is a little shorter than usual at just 82cm. Receiver RF sensitivity appears to be reasonable and should provide adequate range.
